CWC News
Good Afternoon CWC Partners!
Seeing the heart breaking devastation that has taken place in Haiti this past week and great need for workers, food, water, shelter and medical care has really convicted me (as I’m sure it has you also) to take action and join the world in helping out.
We have a strong group of CWC doctors and offices who may want to participate in the relief effort as a team. Our latest project goals are close to being completed (within a month or so) and we can reevaluate where we want to allocate our funds when that time comes, but in the meantime, I am proposing that we all consider donating extra dollars to Compassion’s Haiti Disaster Relief and Recovery Response Fund. 100% of the money collected for Haiti will go directly to the relief effort, with no administration costs at all.
This fund is providing urgent essential supplies and immediate care to Compassion assisted children, families, church partners and communities. 50 of our church partners in Haiti (that’s 50 churches and their associated projects) have been significantly affected (ie. wiped out or close to it) by the earthquake. Approximately half of the Compassion project workers are missing or unaccounted for at this time and many, many of the children as well (all of the country head office staff have now been accounted for).
Compassion is in a unique position to strategically help, as we have staff on the ground in Haiti already, as well as the Dominican Republic staff (many of whom you met while in the DR) who are mobilizing to help out their island neighbours. They have secured a warehouse on the border where a majority of supplies are being shipped, and then distributed from the Port Au Prince Compassion Country office.
By donating together to the Haiti Disaster Relief and Recovery Response Fund, we can continue our partnership with Compassion and know that 100% of our dollars are being put to good and immediate use. *There are other very worthwhile missions groups in Haiti as well, and if you feel led to donate, please do so.
If you want to participate as a group to this fund, please send your cheques to Marlene at CWC clearly marked Haiti Disaster Response. Or, if you choose, you can contribute online at compassion.ca or mail your cheque in to Compassion Canada directly.
Thank you for giving generously and please remember to pray strategically for the people of Haiti.
“But with God, all things are possible.” Matthew 19:26
Sincerely,
Marie Geschwandtner
